Carpentry

As a student in Carpentry you will learn to estimate materials, prepare building sites, install rough framing, and install exterior and interior finishes. Some of your hands-on experiences will include working in the lab to prepare foundations; install rough framing, exterior finishes and interior finishes basic framing (wall, floor, and roof); and choosing types of framing materials. At the end of the program you will have gained the skills needed to design and construct buildings.

How to Participate

College and Career Academy Application

8th Graders who want to participate in a College and Career Academy, should apply by December 14, 2012.

Freshmen who are attending a school with a College and Career Academy or CTE School Option program who wish to participate should speak with their counselor.

This is the third and final course in a three-year sequence of carpentry classes. You will design and begin the construction of a house, and apply the design/build theory at an advanced level. You will also identify, and safely use, advanced-level hand tools and power tools.
