Industry-recognized certifications are credentials that you can earn as a way to distinguish yourself as a qualified and competent worker. Certification requires demonstrated competency in a skill or a set of skills and is commonly earned by passing an examination or having a certain amount and type of work experience or training. CTE provides opportunity to earn certification in a number of its programs.

Certified Automotive Professional

National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) tests and certifies automotive professionals in all major technical areas of repair and service. With nearly 400,000 currently certified professionals, the ASE program is national in scope and has industry-wide acceptance and recognition. ASE-certified professionals can be found at every type of repair facility, from dealerships, service stations, and franchises to parts stores, independent garages, and even municipal fleets.

Certified Logistics Technician (CLTAE)

The purpose of the Certified Logistics Technician (CLTAE) program is to recognize through certification individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of material handling at the front-line (entry-level through front-line supervisor) through successful completion of the certification assessments. The goal of the CLTAE certification program is to raise the level of performance of logistics workers both to assist the individuals in finding higher-wage jobs and to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and competitiveness.

Certified Production Technician (CPTAE)

Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC)

The Certified Production Technician (CPTAE) program is for front-line manufacturing and includes five assessments: Safety; Quality & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes and Production; Maintenance Awareness; and Green Production. Individuals earn one certificate for each assessment passed. Individuals who earn the first four certificates (not including Green) will receive a full-CPTAE certification.

EPA Section 608 Technician Certification

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Air-conditioning and refrigeration technicians play an important role in the phaseout of HCFC refrigerants by installing, servicing, and repairing equipment that may contain harmful HCFCs. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 certification is required to service refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment containing HCFCs safely and effectively.

W!SE Financial Literacy Certification

W!SE's Financial Literacy Certification Program (FLCP) addresses the urgent need for financial literacy and education. The program provides high school students with access to financial education and the opportunity to become certified financially literate. Students who pass the Financial Literacy Certification (CFL) Test are Certified Financially Literate. Developed in 2003, the program has expanded nationally and has been widely recognized for its success, including the US Treasury Department’s John Sherman Award for Excellence in Financial Education.
