Howard University "Escape to Mecca" College Tour

Howard University

The Howard University Escape to Mecca Spring Break College Tour is back for 2013!

2013 marks a milestone year of a college tour unlike any other! Now in its 10th year, the Escape to Mecca (E2M) Program is the longest standing and successful tour hosted in partnership between Chicago Peoples Union of Howard University and Chicago Public Schools. Together, we have exposed nearly 400 juniors and seniors to the “Mecca of African-American Education,” resulting in nearly a fourth of those students enrolling at Howard!

The Howard University annual Escape to Mecca (E2M) Tour Program is a college experience designed to expose talented high school students from Chicago Public Schools to the greatness of the Mecca of African American education, Howard University by immersing participants in the educational, cultural, and social environment of the campus and D. C. area. Student participants live in the dormitory and dine in the cafeteria with a CPU student host, attend classes, meet with various school administrators, and engage in campus social events. This is a decision-making tour for seniors who are prospective Howard students.
