After School Programs

Opportunities to learn and improve your skills are not limited to class time. Programs in this section are held after the regular school day.

Create your own after school program

Do you have an idea for an after school program you want to see at your school? Is there a missing piece to your school’s after school programming that you think you can fill? The Out-of-School Time (OST) Youth Grant is a chance for you to receive funding to create an original after school program.

Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) is a 2-year after school program that allows you to train at the Chicago Police and Fire Academies for a future career in law, public safety, fire science and more while earning school credit.

After School Chicago

After School Chicago

AfterSchoolChicago.org is a searchable website that integrates program offerings from all of the Out Of School Time Project Partners. Users can search programs by type, provider and hours of operation, or simply find out what’s available in their neighborhood.

After School Matters

After School Matters (ASM) offers you hands-on career experience and job training. Take part in arts, sports, technology, communications, and science programs. Learn a new skill, work with experts, earn a stipend, and have fun.

Evening High School

****REGISTRATION EXTENDED! Students needing to recover credit may bring their referrals and transcripts to Evening School coordinators UNTIL THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21. Please see the attached listing of courses, sites, and schedules to choose a program that suits your needs.***

NCLB refers to the federal No Child Left Behind law. The NCLB Evening High School (EVHS) Program is designed to provide current CPS
students with the academic coursework required to earn a high school diploma.

Last year, more than 4,000 students received their high school diplomas due to their participation in the
NCLB Evening High School Program.

Supplemental Educational Services

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) – a component of the NCLB Title I Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that provides additional academic instruction, specifically reading, math and science, outside of the regular school day to increase academic achievement of low-income students in eligible schools.
