Student Projections

Please reference the Student Projections Quick Guide at http://impact.cps.k12.il.us/downloads/QuickGuide_StudentProjections.pdf for vital information, including deadline dates and procedures. It is important that this document be reviewed by any staff member who will be involved in the enrollment process with incoming 9th graders and the student projection process in SIM.

Note: High Schools must have all student projections confirmed and SIM updated by April 30, 2012.

Prevent Duplicate Student Records

When enrolling a student into your school, first perform a district‐wide search to verify whether or not there is an existing CPS ID number for that student. Note that preschool children who previously attended one of the state Pre‐K facilities will have an existing student ID.
Creating a new student ID when one already exists causes a break in the student’s enrollment history and may result in loss of student’s historical grades, attendance, and other vital information.
Clean‐up is time‐consuming and costly to the District.
Duplicate student records can be prevented by first searching for an existing student ID number.
Before clicking the New button to create a new student ID number, perform a district‐wide search to verify whether or not there is an existing CPS ID number for that student.
