The Office of Pathways to College and Career (OPCC) K-12 Counseling and Advising Department is excited to invite prepared school counseling interns to complete a practicum and/or an internship in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) during the next school year! Our School Counselor Practicum/Internship Program has been developed to assist CPS elementary and high school counselors in partnering with an intern in order to positively impact student achievement while exposing future counseling professionals to evidence-based academic, personal/social, and college and career programming within CPS.
Pursuant to the CPS Board Report 11-1116-ED3 candidates from approved university partners are welcome to apply for internship placement.

Citywide Approved Site Supervision Profiles
Student interns who have received acceptance notices should review the Citywide Approved Site Supervision Profiles List to determine which placement sites may be of interest and are currently available (below). The list will be updated regularly to reflect placements that have been filled. Contact site supervisors directly to discuss candidacy and complete any screening process that the school requests, including an interview or submittal of additional documentation. Interns should provide the school with a copy of their Notice of Acceptance to verify their approval and clearance status to the school. Site supervisors are required to notify intern candidates of the status of a practicum or an internship placement within 3 school days of the completion of school’s screening so that Placement Confirmation Forms (Form K12-S3) are submitted in a timely manner.
